Hodgson appointed to BIBA position

The Bermuda International Business Association (BIBA), has appointed Mr.Arthur Hodgson to that organisation's international marketing committee.The committee is responsible for the establishment and monitoring of BIBA's overseas marketing programme.

Mr. Hodgson, a partner with the law firm of Richards, Francis & Francis, takes the place of Mr. Tom Lamont, the former marketing manager for the Bank of Butterfield, who has returned to Canada following the expiration of his bank contract.

"I am looking forward to working with the other members of the committee on the overseas marketing programme that BIBA has undertaken on behalf of the international business industry,'' said Mr. Hodgson.

BIBA made the announcement in a release Friday.

"These are competitive times in the industry and Bermuda needs to be vigilant in maintaining its premier position as an international business centre,'' he added.

Mr. Greg Haycock, committee chairman, said: "It is important for this committee to have input about marketing issues from the industry's large and small firms. Mr. Hodgson is responsible for the marketing efforts of Richards, Francis & Francis and we welcome his perspective.'' The other members of BIBA's international marketing committee include; Mr.

John Swain, Bank of Bermuda senior manager, Mr. Michael Woods, a partner at Conyers, Dill & Pearman, Mr. Ray Medeiros, a partner at Cooper & Lines, Mr.

Rick Spurling, a partner at Appleby, Spurling and Kempe, and Mr. Brian Webb, management vice president and BF&M.

Meanwhile, BIBA said Friday its ranks had grown to 37.

Gulfstream Securities Ltd. and Mid Ocean Trust Co. Ltd. joined the organisation recently.

BIBA's members include; banks, law and accounting firms, and management services companies providing services to the international business industry.

"We provide our members with a forum for meeting and exchanging ideas and for establishing valuable contacts in the international industry and with our government,'' said Mr. Cummings Zuill, BIBA chairman.

"The collateral materials such as industry newsletters, generic brochure and video, media relations here and overseas and conference support, all of which are elements of the local and overseas marketing programmes, are available to our members to support and enhance their own individual marketing programmes..
