Jobs on the Net
on-line for the first time.
The James Partnership has just launched its first web page for people looking for employment on the Island.
Applicants not only from Bermuda but from all over the world will be able to log on and register with the employment agency.
The company deals mainly with matching candidates with employers and specialises in recruiting in accountancy, insurance, reinsurance and information technology.
"Employers generally want Bermudians to fill the posts,'' said Angela Birk, a senior recruitment consultant at the company. "But the demand far outstretches the supply, so often we have to look globally for the best person for the job.'' Since going on line, the company has had dozens of prospective employees registering with the company.
"I have two Bermudians who are looking to move back to the Island to work, one from Canada and one from the UK. It is only a matter of time before we find jobs for them,'' said Britt Gardiner, another senior recruitment consultant in the business.
The James Partnership was set up in 1990 by international recruitment specialist Trevor James and Ernst and Young. The company became the first executive search and selection service in Bermuda.
New on-line employment According to the partnership, a new market for trained professionals with experience in the e-commerce business has blossomed in Bermuda.
"It is obviously a huge area which is booming and we are always looking for newly qualified accountants, as well as alternative and finite risk specialists,'' said Louisa Bussey.
"We really do recruit globally, from Canada, the US, the UK and Europe. We also advertise locally and through various job sites on the web.'' The team has been amazed at how many resumes they have received without even advertising their web page. And they hope that more Bermudian and foreign professionals sign up to their agency.
The site also contains information on living and working in Bermuda, and letters from happy customers who recommend the company's services.
It is also linked to a variety of web sites related to Bermuda and has a potted history and guide book-style hints.
The new web site can be found at www.thejamespartnership.bm.
