Devonshire Liquor Store owner David Fox said yesterday that he would be closing his doors at the end of the month for various reasons.

The shop was hit by an armed robbery and an attempted armed robbery in the space of a few weeks over the summer. The robbery occurred on July 1 and a second attempt was made on August 20 but this was foiled by Mr. Fox's Rottweiler Jenny who was with his wife Mary in the store when the would-be robbers entered.

This was the main reason behind his closing, he said. "My wife has not been the same since,'' said Mr. Fox. "We're getting out of it while we're ahead.'' He added that he wanted to sell the premises but was unable to get the price he wanted so he was making way for his son to open up a business on the site.
