The highlight of the day was the placement of a $4.25 bid for shares in Solar Enterprises -- one of three companies listed on the exchange two weeks ago. No bids have been received yet for the other two companies, Advanced Therapeutic Systems and Ocean Wilson Holdings.

In the biggst loss of the day, Stevedoring Services lost $1.50 to close at $4.50 on volume of 532 shares. It was the first trade since the stock reached its high on July 19.

Also losing ground was Masters, which dropped 75 cents to close at $9 on volume of 500, and Bermuda Bakery which lost the same amount to close at $17.25 on volume of 152 shares.

Belco lost another 1 , its second decline of the week, to close at $19.75 on volume of 207.

And Bermuda Fire & Marine lost five cents to close at five cents with 7,780 shares trading hands.

The only stock gaining value was Bermuda Commercial Bank which jumped 25 cents to hit a new high of $10.50 on volume of 3000 shares.

The stock has gained 50 cents this week and $3.50 since oil magnate Mr. John Deuss' took a 32 percent stake in the bank on May 10.

Trading unchanged were the Bank of Bermuda, which closed at $23 on volume of 500 and Argus, $11 on volume of 615.
