But a surprising slip in the share price of the Bank of Bermuda -- which was due to announce a 20 percent increase in profits yesterday -- forced the Exchange down 0.96 points to close at 1158.50.

Bank of Bermuda shares closed down 1 at $225 on volume of 500 shares and Bank of Butterfield shares were unchanged at $28 on volume of 4,040.
