new vice president/underwriter.

Mr. Hindle will start in the newly-created post on October 1.

His responsibilities will include underwriting the company's international business with an emphasis on the UK market.

Mr. Hindle, age 33, previously worked for Swiss Re in London for 11 years where he most recently served as senior property underwriter, responsible for writing a proportional treaty account as well as excess of loss reinsurance.

Mid Ocean president Mr. Michael Butt said Mr. Hindle's appointment is part of a continued strengthening of the company's management team following its public offering.

Mid Ocean is still recruiting another underwriter, an underwriting assistant and a claims executive.

Mid Ocean Re set up in Bermuda in November 1992, and was sponsored by Marsh & McLennan Companies Inc. and merchant bank JP Morgan with initial capital of $350 million.
