The Government decision follows a trip to the Airport by the Ministers for Transport and Home Affairs, who watched passengers pour in during the lunchtime peak.
Their visit followed complaints that passengers were suffering lengthy delays getting through customs and immigration checks.
"We observed that from approximately noon to 1.30 p.m. it is a very busy time with at least seven scheduled airplanes arriving,'' said Transport Minister the Hon. Ralph Marshall yesterday.
"We will take immediate steps to address the manpower shortages at the immigration desks during these peak arrival times. This will allow for a faster processing time and alleviate any lengthy delays.''
