Astwood, has effectively been appointed the top insurance regulator.

The Chartered Accountant has been named to succeed Mr. Malcolm Butterfield as the next Registrar of Companies.

Mr. Astwood, 35, a former student of the Berkeley Institute, worked closely with Mr. Butterfield over his five years in the department.

He has been extensively involved with the regulation and supervision of insurance companies in his role as Inspector of Companies and was a significant participant in the team which prepared the recent legislative changes to the Insurance Act and Regulations.

He now assumes chief administrative responsibility for implementing the new act.
