request to change the Island's 60/40 ownership rule on an individual basis.

National Liberal Party public relations officer Graeme Outerbridge said: "It is vital that the change in philosophy regarding the 60/40 law does not become sweeping waves of foreign take-over bids of local Bermudian owned companies.'' Mr. Outerbridge stressed: "The NLP would like each bill to be studied on its individual merits. In short the NLP would like the Bermuda Government to adopt a pragmatic individual case study approach to Private Members Bills dealing with the 60/40 rule.'' He said the NLP was concerned about "weak, vulnerable companies'' and Bermudian jobs.

"The strong can in many cases stand up for themselves but the weak need help and support. The NLP encourages and supports careful advice and judgment in all regulatory changes that the Government makes for Bermuda, to adapt to external and internal economic change.''
