Plane diverts after technical problem
aircraft made an unscheduled detour with a technical problem.
The American Airlines A300 Airbus flight from Boston to San Juan, Puerto Rico, diverted to the Island yesterday morning after reporting an oil light indicator flashing.
Bermuda Fire Service and Airport emergency crews were alerted as the plane came in at 11.37 a.m.
A Fire Service spokesman said 17 personnel were in attendance for the flight's touchdown.
American Airlines spokesman Carole DeCouto said the aircraft took off again at 5 p.m., after local technicians had fixed the fault.
The aircraft had left Boston at 9 a.m. and eventually arrived at Puerto Rico at 8.07 p.m. local time, six hours behind schedule.
The diversion follows a full-scale alert at the Airport on Tuesday, when an American Airlines London Heathrow to Miami flight made a detour after losing the power in one engine.
The plane landed safely with both engines working as a full emergency team stood by.
