Royal Gazette makes Editorial changes
structure aimed at improving its reporting of the news.
Henry Adderley has been appointed chief reporter with day-to- day responsibility for local news.
Among his responsibilities will be the management of The Royal Gazette's news and photo diary. Anyone who wishes to make arrangements for stories, press conferences or photographs should contact him at 295-5881 ext. 260 or send a fax to 292-2492. He will also deal with story corrections.
Mr. Adderley joined The Royal Gazette in 1993 and has been a general news reporter specialising in coverage of the tourism industry.
Carol Parker Trott, who previously managed assignments, retains her title of news editor and will continue to have overall responsibility for local news.
However she will now be responsible for editing all local news stories and has taken on an expanded role for the training of reporters.
She will also co-ordinate Young Observer, The Royal Gazette 's Saturday section for youth. She can be reached at 295-5881 ext. 237 between noon and 8 p.m.
Ms Parker Trott has worked at The Royal Gazette as a senior reporter and sub-editor since 1989. She became news editor in 1995.
"These changes are aimed at making The Royal Gazette's ability to cover local news more flexible and efficient,'' said Editor Bill Zuill. "I want to give particular credit to Carol Parker Trott for her performance as news editor, which is probably the most demanding and time-consuming job in the newsroom.
"Her new role is aimed at improving long range planning and at improving the accuracy and fairness of our news stories.
"Henry Adderley has established a strong reputation in the community as a fair and accurate reporter and I believe he will prove to be equally good in his new role.'' In other changes, Raymond Hainey, who became the Gazette's political reporter in 1997, has been named Political Editor, to reflect the growing importance and responsibilities of his job. He can be reached at 295-5881 ext. 252.
