Sonia Looby , has been promoted to the position of operations team supervisor.
Ms Looby joined the exchange in June 1999 as operations assistant. In her new role she will among other tasks, be responsible for the preparation of the daily trading report, trade settlement and operations staff supervision. Ms Looby is a graduate of Whitney Institute.
*** APP The Royal Trust Bermuda, a Hamilton-based trust business of the Royal Bank of Canada, has appointed a new managing director. Brian Taylor , who is currently the manager of the Royal Trust Bermuda team to the position of MD. His appointment will take effect from June 1, 2000.
Mr. Taylor has 17 years of offshore trust experience, and has been with the Royal Bank of Canada for a total of 15 years. Mr. Taylor has worked with the bank in Guernsey, Isle of Man and Cayman. In 1996 he came to Bermuda as manager of the Royal Trust Bermuda.
Mr. Taylor replaces Jean-Claude Emard who is moving to the Bahamas to take up the position as Managing Director, Royal Bank of Canada Trust Company (Bahamas) Ltd.
*** APP The HWP Group this week announced the promotions of three Bermudians.
Former Executive Assistant to the Chairman and President of the Company Tracy Berkeley was appointed to Human Resource & Administration Manager.
Ms Berkeley started with the HWP Group in May, 1998, and her newly created position includes administration and human resource management.
Vice President of Human Resources Jocene Wade said: "Tracy's outstanding administrative skills and work ethic have earned her this post. Her experience within the HWP Group and her background experience in both legal and financial industries will make a significant contribution to the overall growth and success of the HWP Group.'' Elsewhere, former bookkeeper Debra Darrell was promoted to Senior Credit Controller and her new responsibilities include administering credit facilities, accounts receivables and the evaluation and collection of outstanding credit debts.
And Senior Accountant Maxine Jennings is now responsible for maintaining the General Ledger and the Parts and Service Station Divisions' accounts.
