Tyco Ventures' mission is to identify and invest in emerging companies and technologies that will enhance Tyco's core business activities and stimulate growth opportunities. Initially, it is investing with a focus on communications, health care and emerging technologies.

"Tyco Ventures provides Tyco International with the opportunity to earn strong returns on invested capital while creating a window into the exciting growth opportunities afforded by emerging technologies, products and companies developing outside Tyco,'' said Dennis Kozlowski, Tyco's Chairman and Chief Executive Officer.

"Tyco Ventures seeks out investments in communications, health care, emerging technologies and other business areas where Tyco has a significant business presence or interest,'' added Richard Kashnow, Executive Vice President of Tyco International (US) Inc. and President of Tyco Ventures.
