security guard's post at Hamilton's Princess Hotel, it has been claimed.

The allegation is made by a frustrated Bermudian job applicant in a letter to The Royal Gazette .

And he questions the Island's immigration policy on Bermudianisation.

Yesterday the regional vice-president of Princess hotels defended its employment policy.

Mr. Stephen Barker said the hotel fully supported the immigration department.

"We only employ an expatriate when there is no suitable Bermudian,'' he said.

Mr. Barker refused to comment specifically on the security guard post.

The unsuccessful Bermudian applicant, who does not wish to be named, claims the position was held by a Jamaican, whose contract had ended.

He says 45 Bermudians, many well qualified, answered an advertisement for the job. But the position went to the Jamaican.

Mr. Barker said he was unfamiliar with the job application. "We have over 1,000 employees here, and it's impossible to keep track on everything,'' he said.
