Annual inflation rate falls

Transport and vehicles posted a 1.4 percent monthly increase due mainly to the increase in car and cycle insurance which were up by 7.5 percent and 18.4 percent respectively.

The price increases in both unleaded (2.5 percent) and mixed fuel (2.4 percent) also contributed to price movement in this sector.

Meantime, the tobacco and liquor sector advanced 0.4 percent with increases in the price of beer and spirits -- 0.8 percent and 0.5 percent respectively.

The fuel and power sector meanwhile, fell by 0.3 percent in April due to decreases in the cost of electricity (-0.1 percent) and propane gas (-2.4 percent) during the month.

The price of food rose by 0.2 percent while rent, clothing, footwear, household goods and services and supplies were up by 0.1 percent. Health and personal care declined by 0.1 percent.
