On Friday, BA announced a deal which enabled people buying summer season flights back to Britain to get a UK winter flight for free. But now they have extended the offer to those with existing tickets to cash in.

Those passengers who are willing to pay for an upgrade to a higher, economy fare to an existing ticket, before June 30 and for travel before the end of September, will be able to get a free flight during the winter.

Midweek prices are $849 and weekend flights are $899.

BA Bermuda manager Philip Troake said: "When we announced the offer, we stressed it applied to new bookings only. We applied this rule in its strictest sense, but now are delighted to be able to adopt the more generous interpretation being used in the USA.

"This is the first time this kind of offer has been made in Bermuda and we are anxious that as many people as possible are able to take advantage of it.'' The free ticket is for use between November 1 and March 31, apart from December 15 to January 15.
