yesterday in an attempt to return all power to residents.

By early yesterday evening power had been restored to an additional 300 customers which meant that less than 200 homes were without power.

Homes in Southampton and Somerset had their power restored and work crews were moved from the west end to the central parishes, particularly Paget and Warwick.

Belco spokeswoman Ms Linda Smith said in a prepared statement yesterday that crews were concentrating their efforts on small isolated cases and they had even hired a small contractor to assist with tree trimming.

"Our goal is to restore power to all customers by midnight (yesterday),'' she said in the statement.

"It is anticipated that the crews will work past midnight and we are hoping we will be successful in restoring power to all, even if it is early (Saturday) morning.''
