Bermuda lawyer helps write book on reinsurance
lawyer Terry O'Neill to produce a legal tome on the reinsurance industry.
The 800-page The Law of Reinsurance is published by Sweet & Maxwell in London this month. Mr. Woloniecki is head of the litigation department of Milligan-Whyte & Smith. Mr. O'Neill is a partner in the insurance and reinsurance group at the London office of Clifford Chance.
The book is billed as a "comprehensive guide to both the law and practice in this increasingly complex and important area'' and covers "the general principles of the reinsurance contract, examines particular reinsurance agreements including financial reinsurance, and deals with all relevant areas of agency law''.
The book also covers recent English and Bermuda court decisions in the area.
The two authors did five years of research and preparation for the book.
"Another highlight is the commentary where the authors have gone beyond what the cases say giving consideration to areas of little or no case law,'' according to a press release. "A fresh approach from the point-of-view of principle taking this reinsurance coverage to new levels. Destined to be a major work in this field, it should be considered by anyone involved in reinsurance.'' The book is available for 140 and will be formally launched in Monte Carlo, London, and Bermuda at future dates to be determined.
