Burrows Lightbourn to close Front Street outlet
Front Street outlet due to declining sales.
The company has negotiated to form a new company with Frith's Liquors to manage a retail shop located at the existing Frith's Liquors retail store.
The new store will feature products imported by both companies and will emphasise duty free sales.
"The wholesale activities carried out by the two companies will not be affected by this joint venture, but management realise that the general trend away from spirit consumption towards wine and a decline in duty free sales over the years, necessitates a review of their Front Street operations,'' Burrows Lightbourn managing director Richard Hartley stated in a press release. "The planned opening of a duty free shop at the airport has also had a bearing on this decision.'' Mr. Hartley said there will be no redundancies due to the closing of the Front Street store.
