It is understood technicians -- who carry out connections and repairs -- are unhappy, claiming management blocked their attempts to arrange a ballot on allowing union membership at the firm.

It is believed up to nine technicians may take matters in to their own hands after becoming disgruntled with repeated efforts to hold the ballot. There are also other grievances.

Any possible action would only involve technicians at the Laffan Street site, and no other staff.
