Contact Card is launched

In conjunction with TeleBermuda International Ltd. the company yesterday launched the Contact Card, which has features similar to a pre-paid calling card. Calls are billed directly to the user's Go Card account at TeleBermuda's rates. There is no added fee for using the card. GO Card Ltd. vice president Joanne Chambers said the card will be useful for people who make business expense claims.

"We wanted to provide a service that allows people to place calls at reasonable rates but also lets them keep track of their calls by date, time and location,'' Ms Chambers said at a press conference.'' GO Card users will automatically receive their new card in the mail.

IRIDIUM SERVICE NOW PROVIDED BUC Iridium service now provided Bermuda Digital Communications Ltd. yesterday announced it was now providing the Iridium satellite telephone service in Bermuda.

Customers must first purchase an Iridium telephone or pager from Bermuda Digital and sign up for the Iridium global satellite connection service. With the Iridium phones, customers can make international wireless telephone calls from anywhere in the world.

Bermuda Digital is a local company currently constructing a wireless network to provide cellular telephone service on the Island in competition with The Bermuda Telephone Co. Ltd.

The service has been named CellularOne. The company plans on offering the service in the first quarter next year.
