Goods including more than 200 bedroom doors, light fixtures, beds, closet doors, toilets, sinks, tubs, air conditioners, carpets have been recycled into the market.

Great Things' Mr. Andrew Gracie said: "It is better to re-use and recycle these things than to just dump them for landfill. You might as well put them back into the market.'' He said that a lot of the goods are in very good condition, left that way when the hotel closed its doors several years ago. Trusthouse Forte, the parent company, originally removed much of the main furniture and other things they thought were of value.

Mr. Gracie added: "Although there had been a large sale of some things by the principals, there was still a lot available when we became involved in a sub-contract in March. Now, there are only a few weeks left before major work begins at the property.'' Articles are being hurriedly sold at the front of the hotel during most hours of the normal business day.

At one point, certain things were actually given away, including certain parts for elevators.

Patrons have included individuals who are building extensions to their homes, small hotels and clubs.
