Sources told The Royal Gazette that Hamilton Valcleaners and Paget Dry Cleaners boss Raymond Davis was detained around noon yesterday.

A Police spokeswoman said the matter did not involve Police.

Later it emerged that Mr. Davis -- who goes by the name Khalid Wasi -- was hauled in over a civil matter involving an outstanding debt.

It is understood he had to pay a certain amount or face time in custody but it could not be determined last night if Mr. Davis had been released.

Mr. Davis hit the headlines recently when it was revealed he was suffering business troubles and was $2 million in debt.

The two dry cleaners were reopened under his ownership on Monday and Mr. Davis said he was confident that he would put his troubles behind him and run the two shops successfully.
