Dr. Saul: World recession wasn't too bad
according to Finance Minister, the Hon. David Saul.
Dr. Saul is at the World Economic Forum, in Switzerland, with a 14-person delegation led by Premier the Hon. Sir John Swan.
In speaking to representatives of other countries, the delegation is learning that Bermuda has not been the worst hit by the world slump.
The forum is aiming to build a new economic system for the 21st century which includes co-operation between countries.
The Premier said that discussions were as applicable to Bermuda as to any of the major industrial nations of the world.
Sir John said: "Issues of management and resources are being discussed in the context of the world recession.'' Dr. Saul said: "What we are learning and discussing here will be exceedingly valuable to us in the next 12 months.
"It has convinced us that, unlike most other countries seriously hurt by the recession, Bermuda has escaped lightly by comparison.''
