Esso chief steps down

Mr. Hollis said he was now doing work as a marketing consultant to Esso Inter-America Inc. He has worked at various Esso subsidiaries for the past 44 years.

He joined Esso Bermuda in 1953 where he held a number of positions until becoming division manager in 1964. He was transferred to Esso Caribbean and Central America (ECCA) headquarters at Coral Gables, Florida as retail development head in the new ventures department. He was named division manager for Trinidad & Tobago in 1972.

The next year he became operations manager for Puerto Rico, the US Virgin Islands and the British Virgin Islands. After a series of promotions, including a five-year stint as operations manager for the ECCA, he became district section head for the Esso's logistics department in Coral Gables.

In 1988 he returned to Bermuda to become general manager of the local office here. Mr. Hollis, who won the Bermuda Gold Cup sailing match racing in 1970, is married to Norrie. He is chairman of the Bermuda Health Alliance, of the Employee Assistance Programme of Bermuda, and of the Air Advisory Committee.
