Faria on Human Rights Commission
for greater security for long-term residents and their families, was yesterday appointed as a Human Rights Commissioner.
The appointment was published in the Bermuda Sun yesterday.
When asked about her new role Miss Faria, who is also part of the Portuguese Bermudian Association, said: "There are a wide spectrum of problems that need to be addressed in Bermuda as a whole.
"I will probably be sensitive to issues that involve the Portuguese community, however, I will definitely not limit myself to that because there are a lot of injustices being continued against many different people.'' Executive director of the Human Rights Commission and acting director of Human Affairs Mr. Kenneth Dill said the commission is "obviously very pleased that Miss Faria has been appointed as well as former chairman of the women's Advisory Council Mrs. Kim Young. They will act as commissioners.''
