French frigate crew gets rest and relaxation in Bermuda

The French frigate Primauguet arrived in Hamilton on Monday morning so her crew could enjoy some rest and relaxation before returning to France.

A Meyer Agencies Limited spokesman said she left yesterday at 9 a.m. and was due to arrive in France on Boxing Day.

And a John S. Darrell spokesman said the car carrier Chijin was due to arrive in Hamilton this morning from Santo Domingo. She was expected to offload 73 cars and 86 boxes of spare parts before leaving for Nassau later today.

Apart from these two arrivals it was business as usual on the Hamilton docks this week with all three regular container ships calling.

The Somers Isles arrived from Fernandina Beach at daylight on Sunday morning with 89 containers including six refrigerated containers.

She also offloaded lumber, a boat and a truck before leaving at 8 a.m. on Monday. She was due to return to Bermuda on Boxing Day.

Meyer also reported that the Bermuda Islander arrived at daylight on Monday morning with 88 dry containers and 11 refrigerated containers. She was due to leave at 8 a.m. today.

She will not visit Bermuda next week but is scheduled to return on New Year's Day. Somers Isles and Bermuda Islander were not expected to be affected by the severe snow storm which has blanketed the Easter Seaboard over the last few days.

A Container Ship Management spokesman reported that the Oleander arrived on Monday morning with 108 dry containers, 36 refrigerated containers and four racks of steel.

She also offloaded an office trailer, an oxygen truck and a septic tank.

Oleander will spend Christmas Day in Bermuda and will sail on Boxing Day.

sailing back to France where she will arrive on Boxing Day.
