For they found some goods at Hamilton's Rego Furniture were not as cheap as expected.

Some even cut their losses and walked out.

One woman shopper told The Royal Gazette : "I think a few people were totally disgusted.

"I was pretty disgusted myself and just walked out.'' The three-day sale at the Reid Street store kicked off last Thursday, running from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

An advertisement last week trumpeted prices would be slashed on "all discontinued furniture -- bedding''.

It boasted prices would be slashed by 50 percent on the first day.

And on the next day, half-price goods would be shaved by 25 percent.

Saturday would then see another 25 percent off the previous day's price, the ad blared.

But shoppers complained they did not pick up the advertised Saturday bargains.

One protested: "I had been looking for some drawers. I saw them on the Thursday but decided to wait until Saturday believing they would be cheaper.

"When I got there, however, I found the previous day's price was on them.'' The woman said she noticed price tags on some items had been altered.

Manager Mr. David Rego stressed that reduced prices only applied to discontinued furniture.

This was furniture no longer produced at the warehouse -- and which the store would not be restocking.

Mr. Rego added angrily, before hanging up: "If any person has got a complaint they should come to me, not The Royal Gazette .''
