Good weather helps oil companies

The ship, which arrived from St. Croix, on February 27 was held off shore because of bad weather.

It left Bermuda for Curacao on Sunday.

The motor tanker Espoir was also forced to stay offshore due to bad weather when it arrived from Wilmington, Delaware on February 26.

It discharged its fuel for Esso and Shell on Sunday and left Bermuda on Tuesday for Puerto Rico.

And the propane gas ship Emsgas arrived from Haiti with fuel for Shell. It is scheduled to leave tomorrow for the Bahamas.

Bermuda Islander arrived on Tuesday from Salem, New Jersey with 92 containers, including 11 refrigerated, and a boat trailer. It left the Island this morning.

Somers Isles arrived yesterday morning from Fernandina Beach, Florida with 94 containers, including six refrigerated, two boats, and numerous bundles of lumber and steel decking.

It was scheduled to leave Bermuda this afternoon.

Container Ship Management said Oleander also arrived on schedule on Sunday from Port Elizabeth, New Jersey.

It carried 154 containers, including 32 refrigerated, two trailers of structured steel, 17 cars, and a trailer. The ship left on Tuesday.

In other shipping news, the cable ship Sir Eric Sharpe left local waters on Sunday for an emergency cable repair job off Baltimore, Maryland.

It is scheduled to return in two weeks.

And the Greek-registered cement ship MV Thalassoporos arrived in Dockyard on Monday from Baltimore.

It was scheduled to leave today for Georgetown, South Carolina.

John S. Darrell also reported that the USS Wasp helicopter dock landing ship stopped in local waters to allow a crew member, who was suffering from a heart condition, to be airlifted.
