High winds and rough seas hamper shipping
High winds and choppy seas have prevented a number of cruise ships arriving at Bermuda this week, while others have had to remain moored in Hamilton.
The Norwegian Majesty and Pacific Princess are waiting offshore after being unable to dock at St. George's yesterday.
And the Nordic Empress , which was due to pull into Dockyard yesterday, also decided to wait offshore until the weather calms down.
Meanwhile, the Horizon , which arrived from New York on Monday with 1,240 passengers, and the Zenith , which has been moored in the capital from the beginning of the week with 1,257 visitors, have been forced to remain at Front Street because of the weather.
The Zenith will try to move to St. George's today if the weather improves, said a spokesman for the ship's agents, Meyer.
A liquid propane tanker, the Maingas , is due to deliver gas at the Shell depot in St. George's tomorrow, but may be delayed because of the weather.
In other shipping movements, the Bermuda Islander arrives tomorrow from Salem, New Jersey, with 122 dry containers, 26 refrigerated containers, four flat racks, one open-topped container and two tanks. It is scheduled to leave on Friday.
And the Oleander arrived in Hamilton on Sunday from Port Elizabeth, New Jersey, with 184 containers and 11 roll on-roll off units, and left on Monday.
