Local stocks fall back
18.128 points. A volume of 119,026 stocks with a turnover of $1,210,748.88 traded during the week. Eleven stocks traded, with two gaining, four falling, and five unchanged in value. One bond issue traded down for a turnover of $39,690.
The weeks biggest gainer was Bermuda Home preference shares which rose 50 cents to close at $10.50 on a volume of 1,850. The Bermuda Telephone Co. bond issue was the biggest loser during the week, falling $5 to close at $92 for a turnover of $39,690. The issue has a nominal value of $42,000.
In other trading, Bermuda Home common shares rose 25 cents to close at $7.75 on a volume of 2,246. Bank of Bermuda fell 1 to $18.50 on a volume of 3,725.
Bank of Butterfield fell 50 cents to $10 on a volume of 97,982. Argus Insurance Co. Ltd. fell 50 cents to $12 on a volume of 5,137. BELCO Holdings fell 25 cents to close at $20 on a volume of 346.
Trading unchanged were Bermuda Commercial Bank at $4.25 on a volume of 334, Kentucky Fried Chicken at $4 on a volume of 2,000. BF&M preference shares at $9 on a volume of 4,000, Staples Holdings preference shares at $8 on a volume of 1,156, and Bermuda Telephone Co. Ltd. at $27 on a volume of 250.
