driving the Exchange up 4.02 points in heavy trading.

Three listings recorded increases as the Exchange Index closed at 1193.37.

Bermuda Broadcasting gained $1 to close at $6 on volume of 152, in its first trade since August 12. The Bank of Butterfield continued its recent rise as it gained 50 cents to close at $32.50 on volume of 3,062, just 75 cents off its high for the year. Bank of Bermuda nine percent notes were up 37.5 cents at $108 on 240 units.

BF&M was the only loser on the day, falling 50 cents on volume of 500 shares to close at $8.50.

The Bank of Bermuda was unchanged at $22.50, with 13,837 shares traded.

Also unchanged were: Argus, $11, 1991 shares; Bermuda Financial Centre, $8, 1125 ; and Bermuda Fire & Marine, 5 cents, 10,080.
