The Exchange closed up 4.99 points at 1165.15.

Bank of Butterfield shares, boosted by improved results last week, regained 50 cents to close at $28 on volume of 2,000 shares while Bank of Bermuda 9 percent subordinated notes closed up 50 cents at $1075 with 100 units traded.

Trading unchanged was the Bank of Bermuda at $23 on volume of 2,000 and Bermuda Commercial Bank which held to its $10 high on volume of 500.

Outside the banks, Kentucky Fried Chicken closed unchanged at $32.50.
