yesterday, on a day which saw no gains. Bermuda Commercial Bank shares fell by 25 cents to $8.50, with a volume of 700. Bank of Butterfield stock also fell, by one-eighth of a dollar, to $24.75, with a volume of 1,500. Shares in the Bank of Bermuda held steady at $46, with a volume of 678.

The biggest faller of the day was Belco's common stock, which fell by 50 cents to $21, with a volume of 368. Twenty-five lots of 100 Belco seven percent notes traded unchanged at $117.

The Exchange Index closed at 1,003.34 -- down by 4.30.
