The drop -- worth $2,238,294, on volume of 67,065 shares -- blunted a recovery. The Exchange Index rose 5.82 points to close at 1,120.75.

A trader said the deal was a single transaction and was executed by Bermuda Commercial Bank.

In trading limited to the banking sector, Bank of Bermuda 9% shares closed down 50 cents to $106.875 on volume of 500 units while its ordinary shares were up 50 cents to $20 on volume of 1,100.

Commercial Bank shares were up 50 cents to $10 on volume of 50 cents.
