Longtail captures magic of Bermuda
summer season. Freshly painted and restored, the motoryacht has expanded its business from booze cruising and snorkelling to include a floating nightclub.
Owner of Yhoshi Corporation, the company which manages the MV Bermuda Longtail, Mr. David Durham bought the boat four years ago. He started the business with snorkelling adventures and later secured a contract with John S.
Darrell to regularly take out cruise ship visitors. Next Mr. Durham set up the popular happy hour party cruises on Fridays. And in June this year, the Longtail started its latest venture with the floating nightclub. Said Mr.
Durham: "Cooky (administrator, Mr. Steven Brown) and I talked about having a dinner cruise and he came up with the idea of a floating nightclub. "We wanted to do something very different and off the beaten track -- this is very unique. And as far as taking risks, you have to go out on a limb sometimes because that's where the fruit is.'' Mr. Durham added: "What we really sell on this boat is happiness. We want to bring back some of the Bermuda magic.
And it's the crew who make that possible. "Every crew member makes it work.
It's a team effort,'' he said, adding that J.R. and Cooky are especially valuable to the company. "J.R. (the Captain) and Cooky lend that personalised touch to the cruise. They know what people want,'' said Mr. Durham. "And once the guests come aboard, they know something special is going to happen.''
