Marina to celebrate grand opening

November 8, 1995. A ribbon cutting ceremony will take place at 11 a.m. to toast the occasion. Guests will include Transport Minister the Hon. Wayne Furbert, Tourism Minister the Hon. David Dodwell, Rev. Hollis, Shell representatives, the Robinson family, friends and loyal customers. The service station will be open to the public from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. for further celebrations, said general manager Mr. Malcolm Swan. Hors d'oeuvres and beverages will be served. The five staff members of Robinson's Marina will also be present for both celebrations and throughout the day. Long standing personnel include Mr. Clive Philpott, who started building and repairing boats for Robinson's Marina in 1951. As well, shipwright Mr. Campbell Swan started with the company in 1958. Both employees now work on the marina's two boat slips and as gas attendants. Mr. Herbert Symons and Mr. Kennedy Simmons started at Robinson's Marina in 1979 and 1989 respectively. And they also serve as gas attendants. Finally, assistant manager Mr. Keith Martin, who has been with the company for 17 years, and Mr. Swan, who started in May, 1995, complete the Shell service station's friendly staff.
