George's Club timeshare units, yesterday moved out of its Hamilton office.

Midlan owner Mr. Alan Marlow, who also manages the St. George's Club, said the office, in the same building as Tolaram's retail outlet on Front Street, had not proved cost effective since it was opened exactly a year ago.

"We thought, maybe, an office on Front Street would be beneficial but we have found that the trade press and our locations elsewhere on the Island were more cost effective,'' he said.

Mr. Marlow said that Midlan had fallen behind with one month's rent to its landlord Mr. Doulat Tolaram but said that was due to be paid yesterday.

"We've been paying pretty much all the bills,'' he said.

Mr. Marlow added: "Since I've been here, we've probably opened and closed between six and eight locations that we thought were good spots but did not work out in terms of cost effectiveness.'' Midlan International has a similarly named US affiliate which is 20 percent owned by Mr. Marlow.

The company markets all types of resort real estate, from timeshares to golf courses and condominium complexes.

The St. George's Club was placed into receivership last year by the Central Guaranty Trust Company, of Canada, but is still functioning normally.

CGTC is currently negotiating to sell the resort to Canadian-based Trans America Hospitality Corporation.
