tonight mammography specialist Dr. Marc Homer will educate women on its importance.

Part of TB Cancer & Health's breast cancer awareness programme, the slide show and talk will be held at St. Paul's Church Hall in Paget, beginning at 7.30 p.m. Women of all ages are invited to attend.

Both New England Medical Centre director of mammography and a professor of radiology at Tufts University in Boston, Massachusetts, Dr. Homer has worked in the field of mammography for more than 20 years.

During the seminar, he will explain the significance of mammograms, touching briefly on self-examinations.

"The purpose of this talk is to educate people, especially women, about breast disease in general, but more specifically about mammograms,'' Dr. Homer said. "This lecture is not about treatment or cure, it is about finding the disease early through mammography.'' Noting that eight out of nine women will never develop breast cancer, he added: "The whole purpose of mammography is not to confirm breast cancer, but to find the cancer when it is so small that no one can feel it.''
