Minister Hodgson announces environment appointments
Environment Minister Arthur Hodgson has announced appointments to the 12 Boards and Committees within his portfolio.
And he stated that he attempted to achieve "a balanced group of both new and experienced board members'' when making the appointments.
He said the day-to-day workings of the Ministry would be most influenced by the Development Applications Board now chaired by Ross Smith, the Board of Agriculture chaired by Roosevelt Brown, the Marine Resources Board chaired by Danny Farias and the Environmental Authority which will continue under the chairmanship of Glenn Titterton.
Mr. Hodgson said work had already started on developing a Green Paper on Bermuda's fishing industry.
Mr. Hodgson noted that he wanted environmental policy to encompass not only the physical environment, but the social and economic environment as well.
And he announced that $1 million will be allocated in this year's budget for the implementation of local development plans.
The new Development Applications Board consists of: Ross Smith as chairman, Robert Trew, Rolfe Commissiong, Mac Furbert, Arnold Todd Sr., David Raine, Dale Young, Wendell Brown, Sonia Grant and John Phipps.
The new Architects Registration Council consists of: Walter Brangman as chairman, Arnold Todd III, Stanley Kennedy, Kyril Burrows, John Gardner, Charles Daniels and Beryl Brown.
The new Board of Agriculture consists of: Roosevelt Brown as chairman, Barbara Masters Trollope, Michael Darling, Richard Bascome, Randolph Furbert, Kim White, Frances Eddy, Lynn Wilkinson, Danny Richardson, Tom Wadson and Alan Bean Sr.
The new Environmental Authority consists of: Glenn M. Titterton as chairman, Warren A. Brown, Gloria Frederick, Sheila Nicoll, Peter D. Nelson, Mark Rowe and the Chief Medical Officer.
The new Land Valuation Appeal Tribunal consists of: Elizabeth Jones as chair, Nadine Francis Watson, Kevin George, Joy Jones, Brenda Lister, George A.
Morris and John Ross.
The new Advisory Architectural Panel consists of Henry Ming as chairman, Douglas A. Backeberg, Richard A. Bath, Beryl Brown, John A. Gardener, Hewitt NcNeil J. Stovell and Ouemonde Brangman.
The new St. George's Preservation Authority consists of: Mayor of St. George's Lois Perinchief, David L. White, Margaret Lloyd, Lance Furbert, Noela Haycock, C. Ross Smith and Terrence Roberts.
The new Scientific Authority for the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora consists of: Antoinette Butz as chair, John R. H. Lightbourn, Charles Trott, Nel Johnston and Katherine Trerice.
The new Building Appeals Tribunal consists of: Charles Daniels as chair, Alan Burland, Stanley Kennedy, William Lang, Timothy Telford and Kevin Bean.
The new Professional Surveyors Registration Council consists of: Arthur Jones as chairman, Timothy E. Berry, Chris Farrow, Arthur E. Gauntlett, Paul V.
Lowry, Steven Matthew and Mark Orchard.
And the new Historic Buildings Advisory Committee consists of: Andrew Trimingham as chair, Margaret Lloyd, John Adams, Marilyn Simmons and Jolene Bean.
