Next generation of computers to be demonstrated next week
Three days of seminars and presentations are planned for next week to demonstrate desktop computer innovations that are said to separate the NeXT generation of computers from the rest of the industry.
Business Systems Limited, the Bermuda dealer for NeXT, is holding a NeXT product demonstration, called Discover NeXT Week, at the Princess Hotel on Monday morning, followed by lectures on office automation.
Representatives from the Lotus Development Corporation will demonstrate what has been dubbed by the industry as the spreadsheet of the `90s, Lotus IMPROV.
On the following two days, the presentation will move to the new offices of Business Systems Limited on Par-la-Ville Road, where company and overseas representatives will discuss various products and technologies including Word Perfect and fax integration and demonstrate the enhanced power, which they say is available only on NeXT computers.
"Utilising the NeXTSTEP environment, NeXT's graphical user interface and development environment, (users) benefit from technologies such as Display PostScript, and object oriented programming environment, true multitasking, multi-media and more,'' a BSL press release said.
Mr. Nick Weare, BSL managing director, will open the three-day event, while Mr. Mike Slade, NeXT's California-based vice president of marketing, will give the keynote address. Mr. Bill Gramley, senior vice president of Dallas-based Bozell, Jacobs, Kenyon and Eckhardt, which uses over 300 NeXT computers worldwide, will also speak.
