Visits by two occasional cruise ship callers helped bump up the number of cruise passengers reaching our shores this week to almost 7,000.

Queen Elizabeth 2 arrived from New York yesterday carrying 1,664 passengers and anchored in the Great Sound. Handled by John S. Darrell & Co. Ltd., she returns to New York tonight.

The Cunard cruise ship Sagafjord arrived at St. George's from Charleston on Friday with 393 passengers. She shifted to Hamilton on Saturday morning and sailed that night for the Bahamas, John S. Darrell said.

Royal Majesty arrived in St. George's from Boston on Tuesday with 1,033 passengers, John S. Darrell reported. She sailed on Friday.

On Monday, the Horizon arrived in Hamilton from New York with 1,368 passengers aboard, Meyer Agencies reported. She moved to St. George's yesterday and sails today.

Dreamward also arrived on Monday, with a total of 1,273 passengers aboard, and berthed at St. George's, Meyer said. She was in Hamilton on Tuesday and sails today.

And Meridian arrived in Dockyard on Tuesday from Newport News, Virginia, carrying 1,085 passengers. She sails tomorrow.

The container ship Oleander arrived in Hamilton from Port Elizabeth, New Jersey on Sunday and discharged 179 containers, including 45 refrigerated ones.

Other cargo included two boats, an air monitoring shelter, building materials, a tractor trailer, another truck, two cars, and three horses. Oleander sailed on schedule on Tuesday, Container Ship Management reported.

Bermuda Islander arrived in Hamilton on Monday with 84 containers, including nine refrigerated ones. The container ship also discharged two horses in a horse box, Meyer said. She sailed on Tuesday for Salem, New Jersey.

The Navy contract ship Strong Icelander arrived at Marginal Wharf from Norfolk, Virginia on Monday and discharged nine containers. She sailed the same day.
