Ships bring in Christmas trees

The Oleander arrived on Sunday with 26 containers of trees and the Bermuda Islander arrived on Tuesday morning with a further 12, spokespersons for the ships said.
Container Ship Management spokeswoman Glynnis Dickinson added that the Oleander also offloaded 34 refrigerated containers, 113 dry containers, and trailers of scaffolding, hardware and steel plus four cars.
And Meyer Agencies spokesman Stephen Paynter said the Bermuda Islander brought in 12 refrigerated containers and 76 dry containers. The vessel arrived a day late because of severe weather between Salem, New Jersey and Bermuda but still left Tuesday afternoon.
Somers Isles , he added, was due in on Monday as this is its long layover week in Florida.
Mr. Paynter also reported the arrival of the Dutch-flagged tanker Iver Explorer from the Bahamas on Sunday at the ESSO oil docks.
The vessel discharged fuel for ESSO and departed for St. Croix in the US Virgin Islands on Monday.
Meanwhile John S. Darrell spokesman Saleem Talbot said the cement ship Juiho was scheduled to arrive in Dockyard this Saturday. The vessel is out of Norfolk, Virginia, and is carrying a load of cement for the Bermuda Cement Company.
