Once at the airport he was taken to hospital by ambulance.

The vessel had sailed from Tampa, Florida and was on its way to Algeria to pick up cargo when the incident occurred.

A Harbour Radio spokesman said that they received a call around 9.00 p.m. last Tuesday from the Norwegian-registered vessel and a Coast Guard cutter that was in the vicinity dispatched a helicopter to render assistance.

In other shipping news, the cruise ship Crystal Harmony called on the Island last Sunday in Dockyard.

The vessel that carried 720 passengers, came from Florida and left for Horta in the Azores.

A bulk cement carrier the Starfish also called on Bermuda on Sunday to drop off cement for the Bermuda Cement Company. She left on Tuesday for Venezuela.

The cruise ship the Royal Viking Sun arrived yesterday morning in the Great Sound. Her last port was Fort Lauderdale, Florida. She left in the afternoon bound for Funchal in the Azores.

Also in port was the Song of America which arrived with 1,378 passengers out of San Juan Puerto Rico. She sets sail for New York on Friday. Next week her regular cruising season will begin.

The Royal Majesty arrived from Boston with 1084 passengers. She will sail on Friday.

Meanwhile, Meyer Agencies reported that the cruise ship Italia Prima arrived on Saturday at the Number one dock from New York. She had 271 passengers. She left that same day bound for the Azores.

The Bermuda Islander arrived from Salem New Jersey on Monday with 101 containers of which 11 were refrigerated. There were also two horses on board.

She sailed the same day.

The Somers Isles also arrived on Monday with 99 containers of which 11 were refrigerated.

There was also nine boats, three bundles of pipe, two 20-foot chassis, 18 bundles of lumber, and one truck on board. She sails today for Fernandino Beach Florida.

Meyer Agencies also reported the arrival of the Zenith on Monday morning with 1291 passengers. She shifted to St. George's yesterday afternoon and leaves the island today.

The Dreamward came in from New York on Monday and berthed at Pennos Wharf St.

George's with 1,234 passengers.

She shifted to Hamilton yesterday morning and will sail back to New York today.

The Meridian arrived from Charleston, South Carolina on Tuesday with 1065 passengers. She sails back to South Carolina on Thursday.

Container Ship Management reported that the Oleander arrived on Sunday with 151 dry containers, 30 refrigerated containers, 16 cars, one truck, four boats and one crane. There was also a trailer of steel beams on board.

She left Tuesday for Port Elizabeth New Jersey.

CEMENT SHIP -- The MV Starfish arrived in Ireland Island to drop off a load of cement for the Bermuda Cement Company last Sunday. She set sail on Tuesday for Venezuela.
