losing over 21 points in a single day of trading in which $1.3 million worth of stocks changed hands.

The drop is the second so far this year. On April 20 the index fell below the mark for the first time since last July, but recovered the next day of trading. The drop was due to a fall in the price of Bank of Bermuda shares and a substantial drop in BELCO's share price. BELCO fell $1.65 to $19.60 and Bank of Bermuda dropped 50 cents to finish at $28.00. KeyTech fell 50 cents to $29.00 as did Bermuda Press (Holdings) Ltd, publishers of The Royal Gazette , which lost 25 cents to finish at $7.50.
