Bargains galore will be on offer at shops during the "Naval Nights At Dockyard'' event.

And a feast of family entertainment will be provided, including music, films, street art and bungee jumping.

The event will run every Friday, between June 3 and September 2.

Organisers are the Dockyard Business Association, which aims to educate people about Bermuda's cultural diversity. Shops, restaurants and businesses will stay open throughout the event, offering discounts and special activities.

These include: Reduced Maritime Museum admissions; $50 discount on cruises booked at Meyer Agencies; 10 percent off cash sales at Turkish Delight; A complimentary glass of wine on entering Waterside Inn; A free small ice cream with any purchase at Nannini Haagen Dazs; 10 percent off marine supplies at Marine Locker West; and Club 21 Super Fridays Happy Hour.

Among a packed programme of fun activities will be a tug of war between HMS Malabar and the sea cadets. There will also be performances by the Bermuda Regiment and Pipe Band, majorettes, Gombeys, the Bermuda Institute Bell Choir and the Portuguese Folk Dancers.

In addition, there will be water sports, a kiddies train, and plenty of children's games. Organisers say a regular bus and ferry service will be provided.
