The Bermuda Stock Exchange index began the week by closing 10.71 points higher yesterday at 1,129.44, moving within 100 points of its all-time high.

The movement higher was related to the Bank of Bermuda increase of $0.50 to $19.50 on a volume of 1,012. The Bank of Butterfield also traded a volume of 2,370 at an unchanged price of $14.50.

The only other issue trading higher was Belco 7% 1st Mortgage Notes '98, with $60,000 face traded half a penny above par. Bermuda Home was down $0.75 to $6.75 on a volume of 1,000.

Three other issues traded at an unchanged price. They included 2,500 shares of Bermuda Broadcasting at $5 each, 750 shares of BF&M Ltd. at $6.75 each and 827 Belco shares at $19.87.5 each.

The share volume totaled 8,459 valued at $94,848, added with the bond volume of 60,000 valued at $60,300, combines for $133,649.
