There was a surge on the Bermuda Stock Exchange yesterday with the index reflecting a flurry of activity, rising 21.81 points by the close of trading.
Leading five gainers was Bermuda Computer Services Ltd., whose stock rose by $0.75 to $14.75 on a volume of 630. Argus Insurance Company Ltd. recorded the largest trading volume of 2,000, although their stock remained unchanged at $10 a share.
All three of the Island's banks gained, with the Bank of Bermuda rising $0.50 to $23.50 on a volume of 711; the Bank of Butterfield jumping $1.00 to close at $33.00 on a volume of 800; and the Bermuda Commercial Bank up $0.50 to $11.50 on a volume of 100.
The index finished 21.81 higher at 1,199.45.
Meanwhile the index corrected an error, noting that the summary for the week ending March 11, reported in yesterday's newspaper, indicated a dividend on Bank of Bermuda shares as 25 cents, with a payment date of April 15.
In fact, that dividend will be 20 cents. And the ex-dividend date, previously recorded as March 28, is in fact March 25.
