Trimingham Brothers was in jeopardy has been blasted by one of the owners.

The story reported the store may close its doors on Front Street if negotiations with landlord Butterfield, Conyers, and Watlington fall through.

President Lawrence Trimingham has confirmed his family has owned the landmark store and is in negotiation over only a small portion of the Front Street storefront.

The building where the former Britannia and Treasure Chest stores were located until the early 1990's is now rented by Trimingham's and is incorporated into the main store which is directly to the west.

But Mr. Trimingham is also concerned that staff and customers were blind sided by the story, especially because neither he nor his brother Chris had been contacted.

"I would have thought they would have called,'' Mr. Trimingham said.
