major carrier's schedule, it emerged yesterday.

US Airways spokesman David Castelveter was responding to the news that Michigan-based Spirit Airlines planned to begin operating between Atlantic City and Bermuda on June 26.

The airline will offer an evening flight every day of the week besides Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

But Mr. Castelveter said: "We don't anticipate any changes to our schedule as a result of the new competition.

"We have made no adjustments to our schedule as a result of this.'' US Airways already operates flights out of Newark and Philadelphia to the Island and concern had risen that Spirit's introduction could detract business from the other airline.

In the House of Assembly on Friday, Shadow Tourism Minister David Allen expressed concern on how the new flight would effect the existing flights out of Newark and Philadelphia.

And the fact that Atlantic City was only a short distance from Philadelphia also worried Tourism Minister David Dodwell. "There may be a filtering of passengers from that area,'' he said.
